A Letter from the Mayor

Welcome to the City of Decatur’s web site. We look forward to showing you the many ways that Decatur is a grand city on a charming scale. With a diverse economic base and strong community spirit, Decatur is known for hospitality, quality schools, safe neighborhoods, and outstanding recreation venues. We hope you’ll find this site useful with extensive information on services and facilities, key personnel for each department, forms and schedules, and much more. To help you locate what you need quickly, the site is arranged for doing business in Decatur, living or working, and playing. And, you’re just one click away from details about each department.

At city hall, our goal is to continually improve the services we provide our citizens and visitors and I welcome your suggestions. Please feel free to contact me, the city council members, or any of the department heads if we can help you in any way.

The Mayor's Office is located on the 6th floor of the City Hall Tower at 402 Lee St. NE, 35601. Business hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.  The office mailing address is PO Box 488, Decatur, AL, 35602.

Community Liaisons

Tours of City Hall Facilities
Tours are scheduled upon request. Arrangements may be made by contacting the Mayor's Office. Police Department tours are also available and may be requested through the Mayor's Office.

Reserving 7th Floor Meeting Room - City Hall
The 7th floor Conference Room in the City Hall Tower is available for public meetings. Reservations are taken on a first-come basis and are available to any non-profit group that does not conflict with City regulations.

The seating capacity is approximately 50 people for the Conference Room and is available Monday - Friday 8 a.m. -
8 p.m.

Board Appointments
All appointments to boards of the City are made by the City Council with the exception of the Planning Commission, Housing Authority, and one appointment to the Board of Appeals for Construction Industries. These appointments are made by the Mayor. Visit the volunteer and board opportunities section for more information.
